Remember that really expensive sewing/embroidery machine I was talking about a little while ago. The one that was on offer and through the shop I work at I could get it at a very good price....Well, they just got another one in and my boss has put it on hold for me. XD Gah! What to do! It's still a lot of money. I think I might......

Edit: >.> <.< I got one. So did my boss XD They were meant to be going to another dealer but he hadn't paid his bill so the rep offered them to us as she knew we were after them. Should be here Monday!

camera help?

I'm looking to buy a new digital camera. Just a small one for taking out and about. I was going to ask for one for my Christmas but I'm going to England for a doll meet in Decamber and I figure I might as well just get one to take with me. I'm thinking of a hundred pound budget but I'm willing to go up to £150. Any suggestions/advice?
I like my dad's little Samsung but you can't get that modle now. I've seen people mention cybershot and coolpix on their LJ's. Are they any good? I'm having a look through Amazon, Argos and PC world etc.. to compare, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. I read in one of the reviews the "12 megapixles is too big" and that photos needed to be converted to send via email because of it.
I want something that has a good macro on it.
These are the 3 that I put on my Amazon wishlist.....

I quite like the look of this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-ST50-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B001UE8B3I/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1MDSYTN5AXDXE&colid=R9ZO9Q0IIM3C

this one looks good too but the price make me wonder if I'd get what I want out of it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-ES55-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B001UE8AXY/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IBTPZ04YUD5E2&colid=R9ZO9Q0IIM3C

and then there's this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Cybershot-W220B-Digital-Camera/dp/B001PIJ9G2/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IGGM0ZDX4W6P4&colid=R9ZO9Q0IIM3C

Some take AA batteries and some charge from the mains/from a comp via USB. Whats better?
Any help would be awesome.

This makes me happy (after the add for 9)

It's what a video game should be! Unfortunately, I don't have an Xbox or a PS3  ¬_¬

I went to the antiques fair yesterday and bought some more bone skull bracelets. The guy tried to sell me my own bracelet when I was comparing the one he had with bigger beads to the one I had on. He had some awesome stuff...weird stuff too....and he showed me the Nazi SS ring he had. In one of his cases there was a giant silver cock...and I'm not talking about a bird....with a small naked lady riding it. Not really something for the mantlepiece is it XD Also got a Meteors CD for £2

The old lady we bought poppies from called me a 'wee girl'. My mum said I was 28 and she said I didn't look it, which made me happy after getting teenagers in the shop calling me 'the lady'  ¬_¬

I've had a sore head on and off since tuesday so I haven't got much done, but it has eased and I'm getting some sewing done. Planning on going to the embroidery machine when it gets dark (the light is bad to try and use the sewing machine) want to get some badges made for my new doll carrier...which I still need to order.

Oh my god, you will not believe the day I've had.

I was still awake at 4.30am this morning. Totally couldn't sleep. Had a headacke yesterday and went to bed early feeling a bit nausious. Up at 6.30am. did manage to nod off a bit, but not much. Get to work. Takes most of the morning to sew round the hem of a pair of jeans.  Spoke to boss on phone. She needed some stuff cut to taked to take to a school tomorrow. Had lunch and started to cut the stuff. Between then and 5pm I got two 5 meter lengths cut. It was really busy. Christine left at 3.30pm, even though she finished a 3.
A 7 year old made me feel stupid....Her, her mum and brother have been in before. They are *very* Christian. Eddie Izzard did a bit in one of his shows about the Church of England, how they were all very 'hobby-type' Christians with no muscles in their arms and very "hel-looow, how're you?......Church of England"......."more tea?" They're very much like that. The mum said she wanted to make a dress for the girl..."a queen dress". The girl said she was going to be Easter. I said "Easter who?" She replied "From the Bible"
Me: >.> ........Oh  <.<

The kids were going to a "Hallelujah party....not a Halloween party" and had to "dress up as heros from the Bible." The girl then went on to say "we're not allowed to dress up as...." at which point her mum hushed her and I continued with "Ghosts and Ghouls?"
The boy was going as Jesus  ¬_¬  I'm sorry but WFT!!!  Halloween .....yes there's all the pagan stuff, which yes I can understand why some people don't celebrate it, but there was reason behind it. In a nutshell, dressing to scare away evil spirits on the night before all saints day. They're just kids!
Anway, I was with them for a while and serving other people inbetween. An old man, who reaked of the pub nextdoor came in and practically had his chin on the little girls shoulder as she looked through the pattern book. I think he thought he was being friendly/funny by "looking at it with her."  I mouthed to the mum "do you know him?" She was looking uncomfortable, as was the little girl. She shook her head so I asked him if I could help to distract him even though  was measuring something out for the woman. He said he wanted something for his grandaughter who was about the same age as the girl, but he didn't know what to get her. Turned out he wanted a costume or something for her and I tried to explain that we didn't sell costumes, we sold fabric and that we didn't make things for people. We just did alterations. He demanded to know why we didn't make things and I said we didn't have the space. To which he said we "had all the space in the world". I tried to explain that no, we just have the table and we had the shop to run so we were unable to make things for people.....but I couldn't get a bloody word in edgeways because he was too busy having a go at me ...as in he *actuallly had a go at me*!!! I was getting fustrated cos I couldn't get a word in to explain that we sold fabric and machines to people so they could make things. Helen, who was in the year below me at college and is a regular in the shop was in and she managed to distract him and get it through to him and told him where he could get a costume and he eventually left....only to come back a few minutes later because he couldn't remember where she said. He then appoligised and insisted on shaking my hand, which he squeezed too tight, and said my hands were cold. I said they always were and he said, in his half slurred Scotts accent "Cold hands, warm heart...Wit yeh dae'n th'nigh'?" He laughed then left. Oh and he had said something to the woman about her kids thinking she was a god and could do anything (she had said she couldn't sew) He picked the wrong person to say that to! After he went she said her kids didn't think she was a god cos they knew that was blasphemy
Me: O.o [blinkblink] !!?! [thinking....] Oh god, save me from your people!

GAH! The Fucking pub next to the shop! We sometimes get their drunks in wanting stuff fixed. Sometimes really manky stuff. They have a karaoke from noon on a monday.
O.o I'm sorry! What normal person has the time or the money to spend it in the pub on a monday afternoon. They're all pissing their benifits against the wall and treating us to the sounds of the same fucking songs every fucking week!....sometimes twice! It's like having the same fucking CD on random every god damn week! Sweet Caroline, Rolling on a river, Love and build a bridge.....she likes that one, she usually does it twice...badly. The Elvis guy's not too bad. He usually does Suspicious Minds and some others.

>.>

<.<

I'm sorry. I did say I hadn't slept!

Oh yeah. It's Ash's Birthday today. He's been with me for 4 years now.

sewing machines and demon dolls

The big sewing/embroidery machine isn't going to happen now. For the offer with the laptop and softwear I'd get it for £3,500. Just a tad out of my price range  ¬_¬. The offer with loads off it was for an ex-demonstrator of the older model that had been upgraded. My boss phoned up today to find out more about it as she was interested in it too and it turns out they only had six of them to get rid of and they had all gone ¬_¬

I put Beryl back together and then restrung her cos she was a bit uneven in the legs. I think she still might be a bit tight but my hands were sore and are now covered in little cuts from catching my fingers on the hooked end of the string puller. I didn't notice I was bleeding untill I saw blood smeared over her leg. Kinda fitting for her. I think I'm going to definitely call her Bathsheba. I also put the magnets in her head and horns. Yeah, she's been here well over a year and I'm only just doing that, I know. Once I had her put back together I realised just how much I missed her. She's been in her box for such a long time. I love my grumpy hooves. Still don't know where I'm going with her face-up but I'll get back to that during my Christmas holiday.
I just sat and went through 80 pages of the figleaves.com lingerie pages to try and get some instiration for designs for her. She's mostly going to be in lingerie me thinks, or long drapey fabrics. I can see the kind of stuff I want for her in my head but when I try to draw it out it just doesn't look the way I want it to. Think I'm going to get her an 'everyday' wig. Her monique one I got is gorgeous and exactly what I want but its so soft and with the curls in it, it's going to go frizzy really quickly. Iplehouse have something kinda similar but a bit lighter in colour, so I might get that.

Need to see if I can get a few bits made to sell. There's some shows and a big meet coming up. I should find out if we're aloud to sell stuff at that meet actually.

I tried out the roll hem on my overlocker for the first time today. I was scared that I would have hours of fiddling with it to get the settings right but I just changed the plate and foot and it was pretty much perfect first time! OMG I LOVE IT! This means that there is so much more I can do! It's perfect for doing things like edging on lingerie. X3 I'm so excited now! ......I know, sad isn't it?

Been thinking about the big machine.....I think I'm gonna go for it. Will have to wait till monday and see my boss.

I need to buy a new sewing machine. I'm looking at one that's a bit more than what I want to pay but is a really good machine. It's on offer just now and my boss said I could get it at trade price plus VAT which would bring it within the budget I had in mind. Awesome.
She then went on to tell me that the big embroidery/sewing machine combi....the one at 4 and a half grand, (that's pounds not dollars) is on offer just now too and I can get it at *shit-loads* less than retail ....*and* I think it would include the stuff they have on offer with it, which is a free Dell laptop and the Jr version of the digitising sotfware for making my own embroidery designs. (The sofware costs hundreds of pounds) The extras that come with it in the offer have a retail value of £750 alone and it would come free. But even at trade price plus VAT it's still *a lot* of money. My boss said that the only thing with having a combi machine is that you can't be sewing while you're doing embroidery. Well the embroidery machine I have just now, for one is in another room and two, I usually have to literally sit and watch it and change the tension to suit the pattern as it go's. I can't just let it run while I go and do something else like you can do with the big one, so I can't do that now anyway.

I need to find out exactly what is included in the price I would be paying and have a good think. I have some money coming my way in the new year and I was thinking about getting a new laptop with that and put what was left and what other money I could into my ISA, but what is that gonna do other than just sit there. The interest rate is crap just now so I'm not going to get much for it sitting doing nothing.

I'm not going to get a chance like this again. I'm sitting here thinking "Oh but it's so much money" but when I really think about it, it's probably on parr with what a Bermann cost at his crazy price heigh.

Of course, it would all depend on whether my boss would buy back my embroidery machine at what I paid for it to sell it in the shop as a demonstrator. I think she would. She's awesome, but then we do already have two of them in the shop plus one of the middle ones and a big one and she was talking about buying Christine's from her to do that with so she could upgrade.

I need to have a talk with my boss. Not going to see her again till Monday, bugger.

Gah, crap! I think I want a Chrom >.< . The wolf legs are awesome but I'd be happy with just the human head, though I would really like the claw hands too. Not that I would be paying market prices....and I don't have space for more anyway. If I had a body that the head would fit, match and look in scale with it might have been different or if, ya know, I could get one at a *reeeeeeally* good price.
I think I like him so much now (from owner pics) because he looks like a grown up verson of Delf Moon. O.O He could have been one of Reiko's older brothers! Gah! No! Not happening!
Although I'd probably just end up dressing him in Kimonos, male Geisha-esque, or something oh so "overdone" XD Ya know, for shits and giggles. Actually, that sculpt could probably pull that off really well. Who cares if people think it's tacky ( I read something to that effect somewhere)
Dragon boy is nice too but I'm gonna be able to paw one of them. I wonder what Soom have up their sleeve for the MD's to come, especially the big ones. I know there's talk of "baby Amber" and stuff......and what are they gonna do when this line is finished. Start another story, extend this one? It will be interesting to see what they do.

My 1/6 scale heads *finally* turned up today! X3 I was starting to get worried. They must have got held up in the UK postal stikes  ¬_¬
I got 4 heads. I have definite plans for 3 of them. One is going to be a mini Brian Lee Knox. I figured since I can't get him as a Dollmore Modle guy, my current want for his resin form being Lawrence Owen, then I would make him in small scale. This version of him is going to be based more on Bryan Gregory though, in that he was not a pretty man. I just hope he works out how I want him to.

Oh, and my sewing machine is fucked  ¬_¬

So, the sewing machine enginer said that I should "buy a better machine". I got it not long after I started college doing fashion. It did it's job, though I have sworn over it a good number of times. He can fix it which is good so I shall do some research over the next few months and maybe get a new one around easter or nearer the summer. I coud really do with a new laptop first though if Christine is going to teach me how to make my own embroidery designs. There will no doubt be offers on over the christmas period so I shall shop around for one and see if I can get a good deal. I had started saving for the embroidery softwear I'm gonna need.....It's about £400  ¬_¬ That's a doll! Looked like that will have to wait.

Warning - Rant ahead....
Cheap dolls have a lot to answer for! Because people can afford them sooner (people such as 15 year olds) there is a flood of dumbasses on the forums who haven't done the research needed before they've bought a doll. I'm sick of winey kids going "I sooooooo want [insert name of cheapass fugly doll]. It's going to take foreeeeeeeeeva to save up fot it" or them complaining about having to wait a whole two weeks to get it one they've order it. Maybe I'm becoming an elitist in my old age.

Ordered Hellboy 2 on DVD. Still not seen it. So looking forward to getting it X3

My 1/6 scale heads I ordered still aren't here. Starting to get a little worried. They really should be here next week.

I've been playing with the embroidery machines. The big one at work is awesome! It should be at 4 & 1/2 grand!

I has a Heliot  X3  He's not mine. He's just visiting for a while. I'm making clothes for him, which has pretty much come to a holt just now because my sewing machine is at the shop so the engineer can have a look at it. He serviced it in july and it's now not stitching straight. He said it needs a part and there's no charge. Maybe he's feeling guilty about missing it last time. Anyway, I'm trying to develop pattens but not having the machine is limiting what I can do because I can't try them out as I go.
Did some embroidery samples last night. They worked well, though most of them are too big for using with dolls  ¬_¬

I see Iplehouse has released the Tamer woman. She's nice, though I was disappointed not to see photos of her with Evan like they did with Jessica and Akando. I can see it now.....Evan trying to tame the cat woman  X3 prrrrrr

I've been thinking about where I'm going with Beryl. I need to stop calling her that for one thing. I think I'm gonna go with Bathsheba for her. I've got a general idea what to do with her face-up but I don't know if I can do it but I don't know if I want to send her head to someone to be done. For a start I don't have a clue who I'd send her to. I have a big bag  full of fabric I've bought for her since she was ordered and I can see what I want in my head, but when I try to put it onto paper I go blank.
I just don't want her to end up looking twee. No velvet dresses.....Though I have got velvet for her, it's for cloaky / coat type things.
I'm so looking forward to working on her over Christmas. I can't wait! ...need to though. Got so much else on before that.

Right, back to Heliot....

I've had pain. The same pain that I had before and in the same place. The excact same as what lead to me having my opperation. Not good. It did pass quite quickly but I can still feel it niggling. I've been kinda crabby beacause of it. Oh god, that dreadfull woman is meant to be coming into the shop tomorrow. Must not tell her where she can stick her jacket!

I want to play with my Beryl. Her body is currently in her box with one of the legs unstrung, cos I had started sanding it, and her head is half painted in a box on top of my wardrobe, which was only put there a couple of days ago. Up untill then it was wraped in a scarf on Robbin's lap XD  My plan is ....My Christmas holiday is my own. No commissions. No sewing for the shop. I'm going to 'finish her off' and make her some clothes. I'm planning on taking her to this presentation thing I stupidly said I would do in Feb. I'm going to start planning that after halloween.

My new 1/6 scale heads are on their way  ^_^ . Need to do some custom roots. Got most of the hair I need. Not got the right shade of peroxide blond though. Maybe I should see if I can get a cheap Barbie to scalp XD I only need a bit and it's going to be a short haircut.

I also have new embroidery thread on the way  ^_^. Not bought any in ages so I had a splurge XD

My bus didn't come this morining cos some stupid ass lorry driver couldn't read a sign that said 'Low Bridge'. The road dips under the bridge which doesn't help. It got stuck and the bus coming from the next town couldn't get through. Forunately the next bus was a circular and was coming the other way so it wasn't affected.

This makes me happy http://web.orange.co.uk/article/johnny-depp-pirates-4  X3

The last two days I've had off work I've spent procrastinating about what to sew and getting nothing done, though I did manage to get a fabric pumpkin finished for wrok. I have some stuff to keep me busy over the next few weeks though and some 1/6 projects lined up, but I really should finish the ones I've started first.

I've been feeling weird about the online doll community, forums mainly. Particularly for 1/6 scale. I feel like I'm not getting my fix. It's weird. I don't know why. I could have a rant about other doll stuff but I didn't sleep last night  and I need to get up early, so I'm off to bed.

Ok, so the story is taking longer than I thought it would. I've not had much time to work on it cos I've been doing more days at work to cover for holidays. "Being Human" and $250 cookies

Finally, I get to see the first episode of Being Human. I missed it when it was on tv the first time round and I didn't think to look on the BBC iPlayer. It only has the shows from the last week on it, so they must be running it again on BBC3.
Anyway, for those that haven't see it you should check it out. A Vampire, Werewolf and a Ghost  share a house.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00hb49h/Being_Human_Series_1_Episode_1/

I'm feeling creative but I'm drawing a blank as to what to do. Plan 'A' for today went out the window cos I need to buy some stuff for it.
I still want to do the 100 themes that ws kicking around the net a while ago but lack of time and anywhere decent to take photos is putting a stop to that.
I did mange to get a bit more done on the story that's coming. I didn't have chance to do any over the last few days cos my sister and her lot were up from England and I've been working a lot covering for holidays.

Speaking of which I just got an email from my sister with a $250 cookie recipe. Here's the story that goes with it.....

"This is a true story.
Please forward when you finish reading!

A little background:

Neiman-Marcus, if you don't know already, is a very expensive boutique
Shop (they sell a typical $8.00 T-shirt for $50.00)

My daughter and I had just finished lunch at a Neiman-Marcus Cafe in
Dallas, USA. Because both of us are such biscuit lovers, we decided to
Try the 'Neiman-Marcus cookie'. It was so excellent that I asked if they
Would give me the recipe. The waitress said with a small frown, 'I'm
Afraid not, but you can buy the recipe.'

I asked how much, and she responded; 'Only two fifty - it's a great
Deal

I agreed to that, and told her to add it to my bill.

Thirty days later, I got my Visa statement, and the Neiman-Marcus charge
Was $285. I looked at it again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95
For two sandwiches and about $20 for a scarf. At the bottom of the
Statement, it said, 'Cookie Recipe - $250.00'. That was outrageous!

I called Neiman's Accounting Department and told them the waitress had
Said it was 'two fifty', which clearly does not mean 'two hundred and
Fifty dollars' by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase.
Neiman-Marcus refused to budge. They would not refund my money because
According to them; 'What the waitress told you is not our problem. You
Have already seen the recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money.

I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes
Which govern fraud in the state ofTexas.. I threatened to report them to
The Better Business Bureau and The Texas Attorney General's office. I
Was basically told: Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you
Can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money back'

I said, OK, you've got my $250, and now I'm going to have $250 worth of
Fun. I told her that I was going to see to it that every cookie lover in
The world with an e-mail account gets a $250 cookie recipe from
Neiman-Marcus for free. She replied, 'I wish you wouldn't do that.' I
Said, 'Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you RIPPED
ME OFF!' and slammed down the phone.

So here it is! Please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of.
I paid $250 for this, and I don't want Neiman-Marcus to EVER make
Another penny from this recipe!

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES (Recipe may be halved as this makes heaps)

2 (500 ml) cups butter
680 g chocolate chips
4 (1000 ml) cups flour
2 (500 ml) cups brown sugar
2 tsp.. (10 ml) Bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
2 (500 ml) cups sugar
500 g Grated Cadbury chocolate
5 (1250 ml) cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. (10 ml) baking powder
2 tsp. (10 ml) vanilla
3 cups (375 ml) chopped nuts (optional)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the
Butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour,
Oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda. Add chocolate
Chips, grated Chocolate and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches
Apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees (180 C).

The above quantities make 112 cookies. Enjoy!

PLEASE KEEP THE RECIPE AND SEND IT TO EVERY PERSON YOU KNOW WHO HAS AN
E-MAIL ADDRESS!

This is not a joke-it's a true story."

I trapped my fingers in the door at work while I was locking up :'(  It made carrying the big box I was taking home uncomfortable. Still a bit sore.
I has an Akando!!! X3
I was meant to be having someone come into the shop today for a class type thing. She has to do a project for uni duning the summer which is to make a collection of leather handbags. She can't sew and asked if we could help her. We were going to charge her £6 an hour. She was fine with that and asked if she Could come today.

Did she come? No

Did she phone to say she wasn't coming? No

¬_¬

Some people have no manners. If she asks to come another time I think I'm going to say no, we're too busy. We have 2 people off on holiday now....and there's only 4 of us that work there.

Rosen. I think he's the one that's "based on Hound" isn't he?

http://dollstown.com/zboard/view.php?id=dollsheorder&no=311
He's nice.

I think I've figured out why Sims 3 isn't working. It needs at least a 2GHz processor to run and I just realised that I only have 1.8GHz.
I know nothing about computers and I asked the guy at PC world if the stuff in my comp was enough to play it and he said yes, so I thought my specs were up to it but apparently not.....and I'm not happy with PC world. Gonna have to go back and see them. see if I can get them to put in what I need without the installation fee because I had it in last month and told them to put in what it needed and they didn't.

To Sim or not to Sim....The saga continues

So, I've been reading Sims 3 forums and tried doing what they have suggested. Getting the patch for the game. Putting all the graphics settings in the game to low. Putting the setting on my *new* and compatable graphics card to performance. Running it in windowed mode, which has reportedly been helping to stop crashes. Deleted the cache files. Closed all other background programmes. Switched the Anti-virus off. uninstalled it and put it back in with the Anti-virus switched off....and probably some other things that I can't remember.

AND IT'S STILL NOT WORKING!

I got my dxdiag report and was going to post it on one of the forums to see if anyone could help, then I decided to try it in my dads computer to see wheat happend with it......

It's only got the graphics stuff it came with which apparently is the same make as what I've just had put in mine, though I don't know which one it is exactly and it's working pretty much perfectly! ...*without the patch* ! (I didn't install the EA updater on his comp) The graphics are terrible, but they are all set at low, but it's running fairly smoothly. This however doesn't slove the problem because I still can't get it to work on my computer and I really can't leave it on my dads. He said I could leave it till I get it working on mine but doesn't want it left on his.
So, now that I've actually had chance to play it what do I think?

....It's ok. Alright, so it's better than ok, though at the moment I still prefer Sims 2 Night life, which is just awesome!

At the moment I have Ash, Max and The Rockstar in Sunvalley or whatever the town is called. Ash ash the lots of loves lifetime wish. Max hate the outdoors and The Rockstar's lifetime wish is to be....yep you guessed it, a rockstar!  XD
Is it me or are the days shorter than in Sims 2? There just doesn't seem much time to do anything once they've been to work and they don't have much time to be social, even with eachother, though Ash wants The Rockstar to be his boyfriend ^_^
